These are probably one of the easiest Christmas side dishes to prepare, and a lot cheaper than buying the pre-packed ones. All you need is some chipolatas and a few rashers of streaky bacon (one rasher will be enough for 2-3 blankets). Allow 3-4 per person. You can make these the day before and keep them in the fridge until needed.
Streaky bacon – 5 rashers
Chipolatas – 15 sausages
Equipment: Chopping board, knife, fridge/oven-proof dish or baking tray
- Lay a rasher of bacon on the chopping board, and flatten and stretch using your thumb.
- Lay a chipolata at one end of the bacon rasher and roll until encased in the bacon, allow a little extra for shrinkage, cut the rasher and roll up the excess.
- Place seam-side down in dish/baking tray.
- To cook place in a preheated oven on 190°C/Fan 170°C/Gas 5 for 30-40 minutes, until brown and crisp.
